A Study on Noise Exposure in the Textile Industry

Abstract
This study was carried out to measure the environmental noise of textile industry and to evaluate the prevalence of the noise induced hearing loss among the workers. To perform this study 5 textile industries were investigated and 1980 workers were tested their hearing acuity.
Results were as follows
1) The level of noise by processing units of textile industry was exceed in weaving (99 dB(A), 100 dB(A)) and spinning( 95dB (A)) above the TLV in Korea.
2) Prevalence rate of noised induced hearing less (NIHL) of Subjects was male 48.7%, female 13.1%, total 20.5% in screening test and m-ale 31.1%, female 5.3 %, total 10.6% in close examination respectively.
3) Prevalence rate of NIHL of subjects was showed a tendency increasing by age in male and female respectively. (p < 0.01")
Prevalence rate of NI HL by age was highest 40 and over years (52.7%) in male and 35 -- 39 years(21.4 %) in female respectively.
4) Prevalence rate of NIHL of subjects was showed a tendency increasing by working years in male and female on the whole. (p<0.01"")
